eBridge runs Reverse Auction for Second Year in a Row on Dump Trucks

For the second year in a row eBridge Business Solutions partnered with a midwestern city to purchase three new dump trucks.  eBridge ran this same event last year with many of the same suppliers participating.

During the 2010 event, four suppliers competed for the three dump trucks.  The four suppliers placed 19 total bids, with first place changing hands 10 times.  At the conclusion of the event, first and second place suppliers were separted by a mere 0.17% between the two, indicating that true market value had been found for dump trucks in 2010.

In 2009, the total for three trucks came in at approximately $267,000 and in 2010 the final bid came in at approximately $290,000.  Although the trucks came in at $23,000 higher than in 2009, the reverse auction process helped the organization achieve true market value at the current point in time for their purchase.

This event is a prime example of what the reverse auction process ultimately does: finds true market value.

City Partners with eBridge to Keep Police Force Safe

Purchases bullet-proof doors for police fleet vehicles

In order to keep the police force safe, the city purchased vehicle ballistic door panels for the fleet of crown victoria police interceptors.  These door panels serve as a barrier should the officers have to engage in a shoot out with a potential criminal.

The three participating suppliers placed 66 bids and the clock extended 44 times, keeping the bid competitive for over an hour while the suppliers fought to win the bid.

The event yielded a low bid 45% below the budgeted amount for the door panels.  The city was thrilled with the reverse auction process as well as the quality of vendors eBridge brought to the table.  Another successful bid for our customers!

School District Purchases New Vehicles through Reverse Auction

Saves 5% off budget price on six new vehicles in preparation for 2010 school year

A school district needed to purchase a variety of vehicles prior to the start of the 2010-2011 school year.  With tighter operating budgets, the school was looking for ways to save on cost, but not cut safety or necessity when providing a quality education and supporting programs to its students.

The school district sought to purchase six different vehicles, including maintenance trucks and driver’s education vehicles.  They enlisted the expertise of eBridge, to provide purchasing consulting and the reverse auction platform.

Six car dealerships participated in the event, placing a total of 38 bids on the six vehicles included on the reverse auction.  The clock extended 32 times indicating that the dealerships were excited to win the business for the new vehicles and that the school district was closer to achieving true market value for the purchase.

At the conclusion of the event, the price was five percent lower than their budgeted value and the school district was able to purchase all six vehicles and still meet budget.

As our economic future remains uncertain, it is important to maintain quality education for our young citizens.  By incorporating purchasing efficiencies in to our routine purchases in education facilities, like the reverse auction, maintaining quality education becomes a reality.

Southern California School District Purchases Vehicles through Reverse Auction

Pricing beats state contract prices for vehicles

A southern California school district partnered with BidBridge, for the purchase of 2010 and 2011 model vehicles.  Two suppliers competed to supply the following:

2 cargo vans

2, ¾ ton pick-up trucks

1, 1-ton crew cab with standard pick-up

3, 1-ton crew cab and chassis

The event lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes, yielding 145 bids, 112 time extensions and 73 first place turnovers. The two suppliers’ prices were separated by only 0.04%, indicating true market value for the vehicles was achieved.

Overall, the school district achieved 34% savings versus budget.

It is important to note that the school district had the opportunity to purchase the vehicles through the pricing established by the city. The city’s pricing was established in 2008, when the price of vehicles was soft due to the state of the automotive industry at that time. Even compared with the pricing established by the city last year, the bid still achieved 34% savings.

Additionally, the two automotive dealers participating in the event were excited about the process and are looking forward to participating in another bid with BidBridge.
